worst digg post ever

The user woranl posts a key for windows XP home, receives +747 diggs at last count.

It is incredible that digg is being used as a haven for warez/serials, with the approval of the digg community.

Sigs for DIGG !

share your non-profit blogs with other digg users, but beware of the trolls who will digg you down! Digg often posts links to commercial blogs, but shuns the typical users who want to promote their work. Post your blog links in every digg comment. it's time to stand up to the trolls who think they know what's best for everyone!

this blog is a great success

It's been up for 8 hours, or 1/3 of a day

40 total comments, average 10 comments per post.

Most of them horribly negative.

I couldn't ask for more.

ps. The blog-orb will never be the same, I am here to change everything. First the blogs, then the world. Then the solar system. Then alpha-centauri. All with professionalism and grace. My hat goes off to all the sirs and madams who support change.

how to get perma-banned on digg

A lot of people do not know this, but there are certain URLs that if submitted to digg, will result in your entire IP being banned forever. Note that doing this will not ban any of your accounts, just your IP. It will not ban you from viewing the site, but it will ban you from logging in (and thus commenting or submitting stories).

Here's how you do it... (don't do this unless you want your IP banned from commenting or submitting stories to digg indefinitely)

1) submit a story to digg

2) post in the URL as "usersubmitter.com"

3) you are banned, permanently.

Check out this screenshot. What you will end up seeing is a very plain looking site that says: Sorry - Bad IP

In case you are wondering, usersubmitter is one of a number of sites that allow you to pay for diggs. I know of a website owner who has used this site and their story did appear on the front page (at a high cost though). Since I believe in freedom of information I want to expose this to everyone, especially digg users. It is not right that these sites are "blocked" from being discussed on digg. The best way to attack these sites would be to expose them, which is what I am attempting to do now. If enough people know about it, these sites can be infiltrated/blacklisted/shutdown. If you turn your back on a problem, it doesn't go away. Next time you see a lame story on digg's front page; it may have appeared due to one of these pay-for-clicks sites.

BREAKING NEWS: My account has been banned because of this story, I encourage others to resubmit it. DIGG Censorship exposed!

hello fellow digg users

If you came here after clicking on my signature (which digg unfortunately doesn't automatically generate and I have to create manually), I just wanted to say hi and welcome to my blog.

I believe in freedom of speech and have opened up comments to all (including anonymous comments), although I will not tolerate any kind of threatening comments. Have a good day and digg on.

ps. Signatures are not spam, I do not have adsense or any other online revenue click ads on my site. I simply believe in freedom of speech. If I post my sig enough, eventually others will follow and digg will change. It's like when Rosa Parks refused to sit in the back of the bus and eventually she helped free black people from Jim Crow laws. If you have a problem with that, turn off your computer!

PS. I am curious how much digg makes from ADSENSE ADS APPEARING AT THE TOP OF THEIR PAGES.

10 Reasons why you shouldn't buy an iphone

I had a chance to check out the iphone in person at the 2007 macworld presentation. While it has become a media sensation, the iphone is lacking in several key areas. Here is my list of 10 reasons why I won’t be buying apple’s iphone, at least in its current iteration.

1) It's too big.

It looks at least 3x as thick as my Razr. Even the video ipod is too large for my tastes, I use an 8gig nano. Apple is clearly years behind with cell phone trends. Thin is in!

2) It looks slippery.

A cell phone needs to be able to survive the rigors of everyday life! How many people will drop this shiny monstrosity? The ipods are notoriously slippery due to their glossy surface, and I do not see how this can possibly be pulled off safely with a phone. Phones are handled much more often than ipods, and apple’s touch screen means that carrying cases are not going to be able to completely incase the device. I predict a lot of returns several days after the phone’s release, due to drop-related damage.

3) They can track your every move.

The iphone's integrated GPS can be used to track your every move! Did you see the example of using Google maps in the demonstration video where the phone can pinpoint your location on a map? Clearly the iphone is transmitting location data to a central server which can be used to store and track your movements. Who wants to pay 500$ for a device that makes big brother's job even easier!

4) 5 hour battery life.

This is fine for a laptop, but for a phone it's pathetic. Most cell phones can last a couple of days without being recharged.

5) The stupid touch screen.

Touch screens are 1980's tech. There are already phones available which can accept voice input. Voice recombination input is far more intuitive than complicated finger-movement yoga.

6) OS X ON A PHONE???

Honestly, a phone is used to call people most of the time. Having a full fledged UNIX operating system is overkill to the nth degree. Honestly, would anyone want windows xp on a cell phone? Or Red Hat gnu-linux? Or SCO UNIXWARE? This is totally unnecessary. The inclusion of OS X also means that there is the added cost of having a full OS X license included in the cost of the phone (which is 129$ for a single use license). Granted, many people will still buy into it, probably the same crowd who think a 5 hour battery life on a phone is acceptable.

7) Can't upgrade it.

Nearly all new phones out these days can accept secure digital cards, but the apple phone can't. This is similar to the situation with apple's computers: none of them have card readers. Personally, I find card support to be essential on any system. Some claim the iphone is a PDA, not a phone, but nearly all windows based pda's can be upgraded with compact flash cards.

8) Cingular only.

This makes as much sense as selling computers that can only access the internet through AOL, Give me a break!

9) No external application support.

While the iphone is running an operating system which consumes over 500mb of flash memory storage, it apparently does not support third-party applications. This means that every windows based PDA in the last 5 years is a better option for those who want a full fledged portable computer.

10) Too expensive!

499$ for the 4 gig model, 599$ for the 8 gig model. WITH A 2 YEAR CIGULAR CONTRACT! Keep in mind that 8 gigs is a pathetic amount of space for a device which is supposed to support video playback. A 2 year contract is a HUGE commitment. Apple has tied their own noose with this one.

Overall, Apple's iphone seems to be both a monstrously bloated phone, and an extremely crippled PDA. This appears to be more of a technology demonstration / gimmick, similar to the 20th anniversary Mac or the g4 cube. It's pretty to look at, but barely functional. However, there is no doubt that it will be popular with the polo-wearing rich kids and early-adopters that have been sucked into Steve Jobs' reality distortion matrix. I won’t be one of them.

John Carmack: Dooming Society

Lets talk about Jon Carmack. Jon is the legendary programmer of such classic PC games as Wolfenstein, Doom, Duke nukem 3d, Quake 1, 2, and 3, unreal, and the upcoming doom3. Jon has single handedly created the genre known as the first-person-shooter. He has also popularized the Direct3d 3d format over Microsoft's competing Opengl format, as well as caused public interest in 3d cards when he first released accelerated quake for the s3 virge chipset. Jon carmack has redefined gaming on PC's.

Now stop for a moment and think, What would have happened if Albert Einstein had worked creating amazing pinball games instead of creating the theory of relativity? Humanity would suffer! Jon carmack is unfortunately doing JUST THIS, using his gifts at computer coding to create games instead of furthering the knowledge of humanity. Carmack could have been working for NASA or the US military, but instead he simply sits around coding violent computer games.

Is this a waste of a special and rare talent? Sadly, the answer is yes.

Unfortunately, it doesn't stop there. Not only is Jon carmack not contributing to society, he is causing it's downfall. What was the main reason for the mass murder of dozens of people in columbine? Doom. It's always the same story: Troubled youth plays doom or quake, he arms himself to the teeth, he kills his classmates. This has happened hundreds of times in the US alone. Carmack is not only wasting his talents and intelligence; he is single-handedly causing the deaths of many young men and women. How does he sleep at night?

Carmack is a classic example of a very talented and intelligent human being that is bent on total world destruction. Incredibly, he has made millions of dollars getting people hooked on psychotic games where they compete on the internet to see who can dismember the most people. I believe there is something morally wrong when millions of people have computerized murder fantasies, and we have Jon Carmack to thank. Carmack has used his superior intellect to create mayhem in society. Many people play games such as quake so much that their minds are permanently warped. A cousin of mine has been in therapy for 6 months after he lost a 'death match' and became catatonic.

It is unfortunate that most people do not realize how much this man has damaged all the things we have worked hard for in America. Jon has wasted his intelligence, caused the deaths of innocent children, and warped this country forever. To top it off, he got rich in the process and is revered by millions of computer users worldwide. Perhaps one day the US government will see the light and confine Jon Carmack somewhere with no computers so he can no longer use his intelligence to wreak havoc on society.
